ExamVision Magnifications

ExamVision loupes - Possible combinations

ExamVision offers you a wide range of magnifications available in three loupe systems: Galilean HD, Kepler Kompakt, and Kepler Advanced.

Each system is designed meticulously to meet specific demands and needs. On this page you will find detailed information for all three, to help you decide which is your system of choice.

There is no standard for measuring magnification. Your perception of magnification will vary, but our calculations are based on angular magnification under binocular conditions at 38 cm.

Galilean magnifications

All Galilean HD magnifications (2.3x, 2.8x, 3.3x, 3.8x) are assembled with the TTL System and are available in all ExamVision frames. Prisma Lens System™ can be built into all Galilean loupes as an optional upgrade.

2.3x Galilean HD magnification

An exceptionally comfortable magnification that is very easy to adjust to. Delivers unequalled freedom of movement, up to 20 cm. Provides an excellent level of detail for common procedures. Recommended for professionals starting to use magnification in their work.

Our most widely used magnification, the 2.3 is recommended for everyday use to maintain a healthy working posture.

Field of View Field of View 10.8 cm
Depth of Field Depth of Field Up to 20 cm
  • Ideal for all day wear
  • Easy to adapt to

2.8x Galilean HD magnification

A higher magnification for enhanced detail, yet still easy to adjust to and wear all day. Exceptional clarity and depth of field.

Available in our HD TTL version, the 2.8 magnification is a well-balanced loupe that will help you to maintain a healthy working posture.

Field of View Field of View 10.2 cm
Depth of Field Depth of Field Up to 15 cm
  • Shows enhanced detail, and tired eyes can relax
  • Easy to adapt to

3.3x Galilean HD magnification

When you need the ease of working with a loupe, but the detail of a microscope, you'll find the 3.3 magnification an excellent solution.

Ideal for high-precision work, yet still allowing a wide field of view and good freedom of movement.

You will find that extra illumination is necessary at this magnification. We recommend the use of the Focus™ LED light, which is fully portable.

Field of View Field of View 8.13 cm
Depth of Field Depth of Field Up to 10 cm
  • Extra detail, crisp image yet still an excellent wide field of view
  • Ideal for high-precision work

3.8x Galilean HD magnification

The 3.8 magnification gives you an outstanding level of detail and crystal clarity.

They are recommended for high-precision work, where the highest resolution is required.

You will find that extra illumination is necessary at this magnification. We recommend the use of the Focus™ Bright or Focus™ True.

Field of View Field of View 7.11 cm
Depth of Field Depth of Field Up to 5 cm
  • Close to microscopic magnification, yet a lightweight, short barrel
  • Ideal for high-precision work

Kepler Kompakt magnifications

All Kepler Kompakt magnifications (3.5x, 4.6x or 5.7x) are assembled with the TTL System and are available in all Examvision frames. They come with Power-up system as standard, which allows you to purchase your magnification of choice with the option of replacing the oculars, without changing your loupe. Kepler Kompakt comes with an ultra-compact ocular system, at just 38 mm long, and incorporates Lockable fine-focus system, allowing you to fine-adjust the focus in both oculars for a perfect image. For extra illumination, we recommend using Focus™ Bright or Focus™ True.

3.5x Kepler Kompakt magnification

A clear and precise 3.5 times magnification with a wide field of view. The ultra compact oculars are only 38mm long. Lockable fine-focus allows you to fine-adjust the focus in both oculars for a perfect image.

Power-up system means you can buy the 3.5 with confidence – it won’t mean a whole new loupe if you decide you’d like 4.6 or 5.7 in a year or two!

Field of View Field of View 8.5 cm
Depth of Field Depth of Field Up to 10 cm
  • Ideal for general procedures
  • All-day wear

4.6x Kepler Kompakt magnification

A sharp and lightweight 4.6 times magnification. Lockable fine-focus allows you to fine-adjust the focus in both oculars for a perfect image.

Power-up system means you can buy the 4.6 with confidence – it won’t mean a whole new loupe if you decide you’d like to upgrade to 5.7 at a later date.

Field of View Field of View 7.5 cm
Depth of Field Depth of Field Up to 8 cm
  • Ideal for detailed procedures requiring high magnification, yet retaining a good depth of field for a relaxed posture and movement while working.

5.7x Kepler Kompakt magnification

High magnification and still keep the benefits of a lightweight, compact Kepler loupe.

It allows you freedom of movement, so a more relaxed body posture, and will let you see a level of detail you didn’t think was possible!

Field of View Field of View 6.5 cm
Depth of Field Depth of Field Up to 6 cm
  • Ideal for detailed procedures.
  • Get the benefits of microscopic magnification.

Kepler Advanced magnifications

The new Kepler Advanced incorporates four magnifications in one loupe (3.6x, 4.5x, 5.5x, 6.4x). With its built-in Turn’N’Click system, you can switch between magnifications in a single, swift motion. Kepler Advanced is assembled with the TTL system and is available in all ExamVision frames. Prisma Lens System™ can be built into the loupes as an optional upgrade. From just 75.5 grams in weight, Kepler Advanced is the lightest adjustable loupe in the world, and 20 grams less heavy than the next lightest adjustable loupe on the market. Its highest magnification of 6.4x is the highest in the world for adjustable loupes.

3.6x Kepler Advanced magnification

Sharp and lightweight 3.6x magnification, while retaining a good depth of field for relaxed posture and movement while working.

Field of View Field of View 7 cm
Depth of Field Depth of Field Up to 8 cm
  • All-day use for general procedures and diagnoses
